Travel restrictions
The following documents are required to collect the vehicle:
• A printed version of your Rental Voucher.
• Passport or Identification card.
• A valid credit card in the name of the main driver.
• A valid (with no major endorsements) driving licence. International driving licence (accompanied by domestic licence) is required for customers whose licence is from outside UK, EU, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Singapore, Hong Kong, Belarus, Bermuda, Bosnia, Israel, Montenegro, Russia, Serbia and Turkey. If you’re Driving Licence is not listed above Minimum age of driver is 25, Minimum period of driving licence ownership 5 years. Your licence will need to be referred for prior approval, this will need to be done a minimum of 48 hours prior to your rental start date during Customer services operating hours. Please e mail customerservices@sixtni.co.uk with your full Licence details, and you’re upcoming reservation number. International driving permits must be accompanied by the national driving license. Please show a valid ID card or passport at time of pick up.
• UK mainland customers: You must include the printed endorsement record or the code obtained from DVLA website:www.gov.uk/view-driving-license) for all named drivers, with details of all endorsements. If you have 6 points or below on your license you can still hire from Sixt. If you have above 6 points or have a DD, DR or BA endorsement that is within less than 5 years you are not able to hire from us. If you fail to bring a printed endorsement history or unique DVLA code, a fee of £10.00 will be incurred in order for a DVLA license endorsement check to be carried out during their working hours.
• Northern Ireland customers: You will need to bring your paper counterpart. If you fail to do so, a fee of £10.00 will be incurred in order for a DVLNI license endorsement check to be carried out during their working hours.
• If your Driving Licence is not issued in UK, EU, USA, Canada, Australia, New Zealand, South Africa, Singapore, Hong Kong, Belarus, Bermuda, Bosnia, Israel, Montenegro, Russia, Serbia and Turkey your licence will need to be referred for prior approval. In addition an International driving licence (accompanied by domestic licence) is required.
Age Restriction and Driving Licence:
• Drivers must be between 21 and 75 years of age and have held a valid driving licence for a minimum of 3 years.
• You must be 21 years of age to rent Mini and Economy vehicles.
• You must be 25 years of age to rent Compact and Standard vehicles.
• You must be 30 years of age to rent all other vehicle groups including standard vans and SUVs.
Young Driver Fees:
If you are aged between 21 and 24 years old you must pay a young driver surcharge of £30.00 per day. Young drivers can only rent Mini and Economy vehicles. The surcharge has been added to the rental price but is payable at the rental desk and in the local currency.
